The Science on Gender-Affirming Care: What the Evidence Actually Shows

Part 2 of 3 < Previous -- Next > The proposed federal rule banning gender-affirming care for youth at Medicare and Medicaid participating hospitals rests on a specific claim: that the scientific evidence supporting this care is inadequate. Public comments on this rule are now closed, but I want to share my concerns and ensure that accurate information about this topic remains available.

Who Decides What’s Best for Your Child? Not Washington.

Part 1 of 3 The federal government is attempting something that, until now, would have been unthinkable: inserting itself into private medical decisions made by children, their families, and their doctors — not because a treatment is dangerous, not because families are being harmed, but because of politics. The proposed rule RIN 0938-AV87 would prohibit Medicare and Medicaid participating hospitals from providing…

Worth Reading: Erin Reed on the APA’s Reaffirmation of Trans Youth Care Support

In a February 25, 2026 article, Erin Reed reports that the American Psychological Association (APA) has directly pushed back against a New York Times piece by Jesse Singal, which suggested the organization was quietly retreating from its support for gender-affirming care. The APA told Reed plainly that its position has not changed, reaffirming its 2024 policy statement — passed 153–9 —…

Pride 2025

Jenn and I were in Orting, WA earlier today and passed by Washington Soldiers' Home Cemetery during our drive. We stopped to visit and found graves for veterans of both World Wars, as well as the Spanish-American War--something I had never seen before. As we were wrapping up our visit, we noticed the Medal of Honor memorial near the entrance.

When impartiality becomes inconvenient, just call it bias and cut the mic.
