@miwilc I live for faster boot times (and I take way too much pleasure in complaining about it)

I've been away too long--missed you all.

@BryanLunduke 's rant about keyboard lag inspired me to whine about the suckishness of number crunching on keyboards and touchpads without mechanical numeric keys. My fantasy geek toy would be a--

"modern respin of the [1972!!] HP-35 calculator, with its magical tactile key pad, as a wireless numeric user interface to PCs, mobile devices, and cloud services, AND as a standalone scientific calculator and mobile device." See:

Still using Windows? Whyyyyyyy????

"DoublePulsar, as the NSA implant is code-named, was detected on more than 107,000 computers in one Internet scan. That scan was performed over the past few days by researchers from Binary Edge, a security firm headquartered in Switzerland."

"Ready to upgrade that aging 1080HD display, but don't have room for a 28" or 30" or bigger monster on your desktop? Don't waste your money on a small 24" 4K monitor. If you're on a budget or only have space for a 24 or so inch display, there are excellent QHD alternatives that may actually work better, and at bargain prices.

Wore my #System76 T-shirt to a South Florida non-profit event last night, where most of the other women wore ball gowns.

Just emerged from Furious-8 on a full-size IMAX screen. Despite even more cheesy dialogue and suspension of Newtonian physics than ever, it was a great time. Best product placement was hacker geek Tej (Ludacris) rocking a new Razer Blade notebook. I couldn't see if it was running Linux, but that would have made it even cooler.

Harry Mudd comes to the 21st Century, as a San Marcos company takes IOT to the outer limits of creepsh*t misogyny. What could possibly go wrong?

(1) I, Mudd? Stepford wives? Battlestar? Bladerunner? Westworld? Revenge is inevitable and never a pretty sight.

(2) Every detail of the john/owner's sex life is available to the client and server, running proprietary code; and the server is in the US.
