- Derzeit ist Deutschland auf einem Pfad Richtung 62,6% Treibhausgasreduktionen in 2030, im Vergleich zu 1990. Das 65% Ziel bleibt in Reichweite.
- Das Klimaziel für 2025 wurde erreicht.
- Seid 1990 sind die Emissionen um 48% gesunken.

Mit ambitionierten Strategien kann Klimaneutralität bis 2045 gelingen - um Wohlstand zu sichern und den Planeten zu stabilisieren 🌎.

Kernaussage: wir brauchen einen neuen Schub für Klimaschutz. Die Emissionen sind 2025 nur um 0,9% gesunken. Zwischen 2026 und 2030 müssen die Emissionen jährlich um durchschnittlich 42 Mio T sinken, um die Klimaziele für 2030 zu erreichen.

Thanks to the moderator, Karl Falkenberg - who guided us through the global economic and political landscapes: trying to make sense of the current turbulances and risks, in order to find pathways towards better futures. Thanks to the other panalists: Verena Ehold (UBA Vienna) and Tony Agotha (Climate Embassador/ EEAS). … and the auditorium, enriching the debate with excellent comments and questions. Overall: - We need to take seroius action to stabilize and develop further the global order - which is at risk. - We should advocate for a Factor 2 strategy to leverage, deepen, multiply our European efforts in key soft power areas, such as: Development Cooperation, humanitarian Aid, UN-investments, climate and planetary engagements, investments in global science and cultural networks - instead of cutting those budgets down. Rebuilding trust and joint problem-solving perspectives. - We should be self-confident, that Europe, together with partners, can make a significant difference to find democratic solutions to four major tectonic shifts: planetary challenges; the erosion of the global order; democracy crisis also within the EU; the opportunities and challenges of the AI revolution. This morning I gave a keynote at the “Bennett Instutute for Innovation and Policy Acceleration”. I spoke about the “Future of the European Green Deal - Four Crossroads”. The golden momentum for green transformations was 2018/21 … today we are in significant trouble: - multiply crisis … era of uncertainty … public and political attention and public investments shifting towards military threats and economic crisis in Europe; - citizens (in Germany) perceiving erosion of the health sector, bad performance of the educational sector and domestic insecurity as main political priorities (social contract between the State and citizens under stress) … climate and environmental issues remain relevant, but less important; - “2. Order Problems”, resulting from the acceleration of the green transformation: bureaucratic dynamics, to little emphasis of the distributional impacts of the EGD, vested interests of fossil driven actors gaining importance. Transformation strategies in 2026 need to take systematically into consideration these changing contexts. Thanks for the invitation.
