Hi everybody! I'm moving this account to @DazeEnd. In theory, everyone who follows this should be automatically be moved to the new account. But if you'd like to jump the queue, feel free to follow me over there now. See you on the flip side!
@thekitmalone Thanks for your quick reply! I asked about mastodon.social because it fit the pattern of a suspended site on your About page. I’ve a little more research to do before I make a final decision. Thanks again.

@thekitmalone Hi there. I’m a Hoosier looking for a new server on Mastodon. One of my concerns is federating with other services like Threads. Can you tell me:

1. Does Hoosier.social federate with Threads?

2. Does Hoosier.social have any plans for federating with future proprietary services in the Fediverse (like maybe BlueSky someday)?

3. Do you federate with Mastodon.social? Your “About” page makes me think you might not.

Thanks!

@eatyourglory Something along the lines of mastodon.social would count. I recognize that moderation is necessary. I just don’t want a site that reflexively bans or preemptively bans.

So I’m looking for a new #mastodon instance to migrate to. My criteria are:

1. A biggish general interest site

2. Has a light touch with moderation

3. Federated with Threads and has no plans to reflexively block servers in the future (like BlueSky)

(Unfortunately, someone already snagged my name at mastodon.social.)

Anyone have advice for which Mastodon servers to consider or avoid?

I’ve been seeing a lot of questions online about how to photograph the eclipse or what kind of filters to use. I photographed the last eclipse back in August 2017. Here are some tips from that experience…

@fahrni Works for me. 👍

We are getting along OK without the promotional help of Facebook, but it does seem problematic that a behemoth such as Meta can dictate the terms of our communications.

@palafo I hear you can can get by their censorious ban by using a link shorter.

@stephen Twelve?! That’s a lot of pizza!

Did you try Sbarro? I hear they make a tasty pie. (I kid! I kid! I’m really not a pizza heathen!)
