I have always thought, especially during COVID, that instead of learning Spanish or some other language in American schools, people should learn sign language, cause there are much fewer “types” of sign language, it’ll be much easier to have something “universal” and during COVID, people with hearing disabilities who used to really on lip reading, didn’t have that opportunity during that time
Damn, bro got yo ass
Yeah, I really don’t think lying would’ve been a great choice, and I kinda stand by it, the guy can be petty and I don’t want him screwing me over anymore than he has. I just want to get somewhere else, maybe IT help desk, but electrical and HVAC would be a good pivot since we do a lot of electrical and troubleshooting, just need the certs

Damn, first real job, and because I'm miserable and thinking of switching jobs, I'm being targeted now, I get it in a way, but damn - Lemmy.World

So, this is my first job for a well and Pump company, it’s a small company, but it’s been running 5+ years and is worth over a million, thing is, I’m miserable, this job has had me stressed out so much that I started thinking of switching. A few months back, in a morning meeting, I can’t quite remember the context, but I do remember saying that “this wasn’t where I saw myself” which is true, I’m a very techie person doing manual labor, even spent several years in college before getting burnt out doing all the extra shit you need. Thing is my boss latched on to me saying that and kept bringing it up, and recently he wanted me to get a licence with him in public water systems that he would pay for, cool, but I was miserable and didn’t want to owe him anything if I left so I said no. That is when he brought up if I saw this as a career or just a job, now, mind you this is the type of guy that can be spiteful, so I had to make a choice on the spot and either lie to make sure I was still put on jobs or tell the truth and not screw myself out of recommendations, I would like SOMETHING to put on my resume, so I told him it was a job. Now this morning, I get a text in a group chat that I wasn’t needed today, and I kinda felt like he was trying to do the same last week, but me and my coworkers wiggled me out of it each time, I’m sure my coworkers will get me some work, cause they some bros, but it’ll be by twisting my bosses arm and if I’m coming in, it’ll probably be for necessity.

I was 18 and drove twice with my dad before taking my test, we had a buggy on the farm that I drove, but that’s about it, 22 and haven’t had an accident or even close, and my job has me driving 3+ hours each day

Does anyone else get extremely overwhelmed by the thought of work after a longer break? - Lemmy.World

It hasn’t been that much longer of a break for me (4 and a half day weekend), but new years doesn’t usually have me going to several dinners like Christmas or Thanksgiving and I actually got some really good rest, but I’m extremely upset at the idea of going back to work, it doesn’t help that I don’t like my job, but I’m too the point that I want to breakdown and/or quit. And I’ve had similar experiences in school, I’m curious to see if others have this or just me

Am I the only one who genuinely just wants good food and good company? Like, I have expensive wants, and cheap needs, I don’t like just getting money cause it’ll just go towards my cheap needs, my boss gave us a $50 gift card and I just used it on groceries. If I get anything, I would rather it be handmade, but good company is more than enough for me

What to do for upgrading cpu - Lemmy.World

I currently have a Intel Core i5-12400F (bought a pre built from Starforge) and am thinking of upgrading to an Intel i9-14900K or KF and I’m wondering what steps I need to take in regards to preparation and during installation I bought a bit of thermal paste a while back that was a corsair one that I saw in Walmart for cheap, but if I need better I’ll get better, I also have a Arctic Freezer 36 Air Cooler

Tried this, don’t recommend, makes the past even louder
