#Writing is hell - keeping track of everything isn’t the issue, nor is writing. It’s the PLANNING.

I'm quite concerned with #meta wanting to make #threadsapp compatible with the ActivityPub protocol.

• I'm a bit afraid they'll be able to weigh on ActivityPub's development to serve their own purpose, leading to whatever it's gonna lead (who knows, unblockable ads, algos, data scraping, stop defederation?) Having a giant Meta instance kinda defeats the purpose of federation. Fedi instances are gonna become the minority and Meta is gonna make the law.

• I don't really want the Fediverse to be easily federated with commercial, extra-large reach plug-and-play services. While it has clear benefits for following artists who need to reach a larger audience, it also allows sort of anyone with a Threads account to find you, defeating the purpose of a safe personal corner of the web. It may sound a bit elitist, but I kinda like the extra effort needed to join the Fediverse. It makes the place a lot safer, and less crowded. People who're here know why they're here and what they're here for. Today you won't have a new following request from your boss, colleague or grandma. But tomorrow you might see that notification pop: "Granny from Threads wants to be friends!"

I came here to escape megacorpos a bit. I'm not glad to see them step in with their muddy boots to destroy everything. I want this place to keep its soul. I hope Meta's instance will be widely defedereted.

To plant more than 4,500 trees in one day, you don't move like a gardener, you move like a machine.
