Digging through my attic this morning and I stumbled across my notes from a History of Jazz class that I took in college back in 1992. Professor was a dude named Gary Chapman, who was a visiting lecturer at my school and was an excellent piano player of every style who had an encyclopedic knowledge of every form of jazz you could image. He would sit the piano and lecture, playing damned near everything from every era.
