@mogwai_poet I'm suddenly reminded of the 2d breath of the wild prototype back in 2017.
found an old polygon article on it. It probably would have qualified https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2017/3/1/14780954/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-2d-prototype-gdc-2017 apparently a fan (micropig) was recreating it but got a cease and desist.
The Breath of the Wild team created a 2D Zelda prototype to test mechanics

The team used a 2D The Legend of Zelda to test ideas

@mogwai_poet Where are the 2d immersive sims though? Streets of Rogue exists but lacks the bespoke levels. Give me a 2d Zelda-like with some Immersive sim elements and multiple solutions to obstacles!
@mogwai_poet Oddly, a very similar criteria drove me towards open world stealth games like thief, styx, theif simulator, and deus ex-a-likes. games that let you explore the entire level design before you even begin trying to achieve anything.
@mogwai_poet If you look down at the surface of water and maintain that z should increase with depth (going away in 3d) Right hand rule dictates a Y increasing downwards. OTH if you want Z to increase with elevation Y should increase up. It's all about perspective.
@keith Thos is so you can sort by date easier in a spreadsheet isn't it. Better go with yyyy-mm-dd format as standard too.
@raygan The Kubrick stare.
@mogwai_poet Nonono!
Legi is the Latin plural form it should actually be Legodes.
