Switched to Pop OS from Linux Mint. Wow. - Lemmy.World

What can I say, I fucking love POP OS so far. Linux Mint was my first distro, and I loved a ton about it. But after taking the leap and switching to POP I am blown away. Everything has worked amazingly so far. What are your favorite things about POP OS, and any tips?

I appreciate the response. What would you recommend as the easiest way to test different distros easily? Vm?

Linux Mint - NOT "Usable Out of the Box" - Probably switching back to Windows - Lemmy.World

My time with Linux has been equal parts amazing and absolutely infuriating. Linux Mint is NOT usable out of the box. Here have been my issues: Nvidia GPU - Trying to figure out how to get the drivers working was a nightmare with ten million different people giving different advice on how to get it to work. Eventually I was able to get them signed and it seems to work Bluetooth - Another nightmare. Bluetooth is terrible on Linux. It took hours to get it even remotely working ok, but I still don’t think it’s perfect. Compatibility - Some things just straight up don’t work for seemingly no reason. None of my controllers work with Steam, no matter how many countless hours I’ve spent troubleshooting. And that is where I am disappointed. Troubleshooting Linux issues sucks. There are so many people giving their opinions and all of them are different and most don’t work. When Linux is working right it is amazing, and I love it. But right now, it just isn’t as good as Windows and extremely infuriating more often than not. Guess I am going to switch back and give Bill Gates all of my info again. Really fucking disappointing

Possible to Transfer Windows 11 Key to Virtual Machine? - Lemmy.World

Hey everyone, I am trying to set up a VM on my Linux Mint pc for Windows 11. I already have the pc dual boot linux and Windows. My goal is to set up a Windows 11 VM and then delete Windows partition from my pc. I don’t want to dual boot into windows anymore, but I need it for a few applications. Is there a way to get the key I already bought and use it for the VM I am going to set up? Side note, what VM software do you recommend? VirtualBox seems popular, but would like some advice.

Mint - Bluetooth Issues - Lemmy.World

Hello, I am not able to figure out whatever bluetooth issues I am having. None of my devices stay connected and will never reconnect once disconnected. I have a pair of WH-XM4 and they will not stay connected. Here is what I tried so far: Reinstall BlueZ Check for blocking with rfkill Restart Bluetooth, but I just get this error “Bluez Daemon is not running, blueman-manager cannot continue” I’m at my wits end. Please help.

Firefox YouTube Live Streams Keep Freezing - Lemmy.World

Anyone else experience this? I haven’t ever had this problem with Chrome. Live streams on YouTube seem to freeze once an hour or so. Actually YouTube just seems way slower and much more laggy on FireFox. I am using uBlock Origin so maybe that is throttling things, but I’m not sure. Any advice?

Is the Dev for Boost actually active? - Lemmy.World

Been using Sync and love it, but there are bugs and the dev disappears for months at a time. Is Boost regularly maintained or should I just switch to a FOSS app?
