Finished redeeming an Amazon gift card and Amazon showed me this. Yes, Jeff Bezos, I'm aware that you would like everyone to give you all the money.
Folks in the Southeast, #VCFSE is two weeks away! I hope you can join up and try out all my esoteric OSes! https://vcfed.org/events/otherevents/vintage-computer-festival-southeast/vcf-se-11-0-exhibits/

Ooh, sick burn on #python
Big thanks to @codepoet80 for selling me a NeXT keyboard. That was the last piece I needed to have a full working NeXTstation setup of my own—no more borrowed components needed!

Success! I was able to get a clean NeXTSTEP 3.3 disk image loaded onto an SD card and it booted on the first try.

I want to back up and also keep the SD card it came with as it had some cool stuff on it. But the clean image fixes a few issues with that one, and it's nice to see what came out of the box.

And a really interesting bonus: seller said it had "Mac OS installed" and I was like 🫤 but turns out it has a NeXT program called Executor that runs Macintosh software. Will need to read up on it more!
Great news: the #NeXTstation that got lost in the mail finally arrived a month later, and it looks and works great!
lol, I forgot about this ginormous chonker of a CD-ROM drive

NeXT monitor arrived, works, and the picture is *really* nice. The borrowed monitor I have has a known issue where the picture is super wobbly for the first 20-30 min it's running (!). By comparison the picture seems somewhat dim too. I didn't realize how much more enthused a good image would make me to play around with NeXT!

Slab is arriving tomorrow from the same seller (testing on a borrowed one today). Hopefully it's in as good a shape!

When an eBay auction has been a really good price but it starts creeping up

@CodingItWrong congrats. i’m the owner of a dim/“tired” megapixel monitor and am obscenely envious!
