Most people who quote MLK today would be hating him if he was still alive.
He’s very sanitized these days (ESPECIALLY by white evangelicals).
Where’s the proof for that?
The fact that they continue to justify the shooting of unarmed black (and brown) people at the hands of cops or how they blame racial minorities (black people in particular) for the environmental situation they are (specifically those in Mississippi).
I don’t think this just applies to Martin Luther King.
This also applies to people like Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
I say this because of Bonhoeffer was living in America today he would be decrying the Christian Nationalism of (most) white evangelicals given how similar it is to the nationalism dominating Germany for 12 years.
People claiming to admire today would be seeking to hang him.
I think the reason Kamala lost is because of overall disillusionment with the Democratic Party.
People were not happy with how Biden handled things (especially the economy) these past 4 years.
Also him deciding to drop out of the race at the time he did only hurt Kamala Harris’s chances of becoming President.
This is of course, not getting into how Harris’s main pitch was, “Look at how much of a dictator he will be,” or “Look how depraved he is!”
That didn’t help in the slightest.
