hopefully using someone elses fedi server will stop my vps from running out of memory all the time

Programmer who is also interested in cybersecurity. Plays videogames quite a bit.

Tech nerd, generally prefers open-source software. Uses Fedora linux, only loads a windows install on a secondary SSD for a couple of applications that would not work on Linux.

Follow requests are on so I can vibe check you. Vibe checks were still performed before this change, however they were instead performed after you followed. Feel free to request a follow, but at least put something in your bio beforehand.

i think the censors killed him

so yeah [at]Loraine[at]sigmoid.social is almost certainly a bot. you can check their profile out for yourself if you want to confirm.

my reasons are as follows:

  • account has 5 posts. 4 of them were on the 17th of feb, the day after account creation. the 5th was on the 17th march and was an unsolicited ping (which was responded to, but no response was provided to the users suspicion of the accounts hiding of follows and followers - which i personally suspect is to both mask that all their followers are likely sockpuppets of the same scraper and to prevent said scraper network from being completely eliminated with some fairly cursory checks of each account to confirm that they are shells). 5 posts, with barely any activity for over a month does not seem like it would net a person 393 followers.
  • 4 posts made on the same day were images, which are likely meant to fill up a persons screen if they dont scroll down while checking out the follow request.
  • first image i reverse image searched out of those they posted had an exact match from a pinterest post that was in some east asian language (not sure which). see attached screenshot. it was not disclosed as being authored externally (and definitely not credited). while alone this isnt a massive red flag (although its a jerk move), the fact that it is stolen suggests that whoever created the account intended to make it pass as a real human[tm] with the minimum possible effort.
  • account decided to follow request me, prompting a vibe check (which then prompted a semi-thorough investigation given that the initial vibe check failed owing to the low post volume, generic bio, odd behaviour, and surprisingly large number of followers)

suggestions of action in reply (char limit things)

@Loraine@sigmoid.social doing okay.. You? What are you writing? And any reason you hide all following and followers?
