This is something I’ve been doing since before AI, so it’s not that… but yeah.
Can you clarify? I have several family members with accounts and we don’t see each others pictures. Are you uploading to a shared album?
I get that. But at the same time, when shit does go wrong, it’s so much harder to work around their whole system when it’s so unfamiliar. I’m not speaking from experience with unraid. Just other NAS solutions (TrueNAS) and other “easy mode” options from other tech. I almost always end up tossing it out for the less hand-holing option. Because then I have to understand it, and if I understand it, it becomes so much easier.
I’m not super familiar with fiber. There’s no modem or anything needed? Don’t they still track data usage? Are they able to do that without any intermediate equipment?
Care to explain what you mean? Are you saying you can run fiber in your house? Doesn’t that still require some form of equipment from an ISP to actually go out to the internet?
I get that. Have you read The Egg by Andy Weir? If not, there’s a Kurzgesagt video that’s just that story with animation. I’d suggest it. It touches on this concept and kinda paints a more optimistic picture.

You seem like the kinda guy who could see someone with a machine that cures cancer, but you’d still complain because it can’t suck your dick
What’s wrong with that book?

I was so confused until I read this. I was comparing the post and this original one for way too long.

What did you have posted originally?

Yeah, I’ll send you a google docs link. I mean, they provide a lot of great examples about how regulation is halting progress on projects that pretty much everyone, regardless of political ideology, can agree are good. So, they have a point. But I feel like their conclusion is somewhat lacking in substance. This is not to say it’s not a great read. It’s just something that would benefit further analysis. Definitely let me know when you’ve finished reading it, if you wanna discuss it more. I don’t really know anyone who’s interested in this topic, so it’s nice to get a chance to discuss it.
