#PutGasInThePast - Tell Eversource no $65M gas expansion in Springfield! Tell Governor Healey to put a halt to all gas expansions. Walk the walk, Maura.

US Office of Energy and Renewable Energy:

“none of our roadmaps consider home heating a viable use for H2”

HOT OFF THE PRESS: New independent system cost study from ETH on decarbonising heating is out.

Result: Green hydrogen for heating is more 2-3x more expensive, less efficient and has more environmental impacts than electrification.

Massachusetts climate advocates say the fight over renewable gas isn’t over yet

"...renewable gas is expensive to create, still generates emissions when burned, and still leaks out of aging pipes, just like the fossil fuel version."

Massachusetts climate advocates say the fight over renewable gas isn’t over yet

Interesting revolving door here. From EEA agencies - EFSB and DPU - to the AGO and then back again.

@CKinMA we think the dilute energy density of H is why NGrid is not attempting to just replace, but to *expand* pipe capacity by >2X on these quiet residential streets in Newton. I don’t think GSEP authorizes pipeline expansion. But NGrid is not giving any answers, to what our badass councilors called “reasonable” questions.
We have their backs and are taking this to the AG & Gov to get answers. Any whiff of a legal threat by NGrid will be met with substantial soup throwing!

Didn't make the coverage, but last night Eversource had the audacity to say no new emissions from a totally redundant pipeline, a new meter station and modified station. As if no venting and no leaks!

Eversource continues pitch for gas pipeline during public hearing despite unrelenting community pushback

Residents in Springfield and Longmeadow weighed in on a proposed Eversource gas pipeline opponents argue will be 'toxic' but utility executives say will avert a potential dire gas outage for up to 58,000 residents.
