At the same time, the pressure to “carry on” can be intense—driven by professional identity, staffing shortages, and fear of being seen as unreliable. Without clear Long COVID guidance, workplace adjustments can become inconsistent, slow, and stressful for everyone involved.

Finally i was asked to look at the cars heater as “it never seems to get warm.”
She had the passenger heater set to “low/cold” the drivers side to “Hi/hot”, the fan on to max/screen demist.
Set it to “auto 24” and she’s now happy.
She said “I’ve no idea what any of the dials do, i just twiddle everything”

So she is trying to heat the unheated part of her home to 22c and apparently leave radiator on full blast even in rooms she doesn’t use.

We also had a discussion about why her energy bills were so high to heat her house, when she’s just had a new high efficiency system fitted. She has a portable thermostat which she says she places at the top of the stairs in the hall. I asked her why she doesn’t have it where she is in the house? Her response “i put it there because thats where (late husband) fitted the thermostat when he first installed central heating.” When was that? “When we bought the house in 1960.”

We have survived the two days of madness that equates to one of my wife’s relatives. I was asked to see why her heated steering wheel wasnt working… i pointed out her car doesnt have that feature. To be told “but it says i have it in the owners manual; I’ll have to complain to the dealer!” I tried to point out the little phrase that said “this manual may show features that are not fitted to your car”… Her response “oh i know nothing about that, you don’t believe everything you read!”🤦🏼‍♂️.
