I struggle with this too. I’m reading White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo right now though and it’s main suggestion is to just oppose racism when you see it. Call white people out on their behavior even if it makes everyone uncomfortable and makes you unpopular.
Also, to listen to feedback from people of color without getting defensive. No one is going to be perfect and we live in a system which is constantly socializing us, it’s ok if we fuck up but just try and fix it when you learn better.
It’s worse than just using a new tool though. By definition LLMs use the statistically most likely option (with minor variation for flavor). People are literally asking a statistics bot what password can I use that is the most likely?
Yes! AI should be working for the user. I wish there were more projects doing this.
The Poisoner’s Handbook by Deborah Bloom! It’s so good!
Ok it sounds like they got functioning vessels after xengrafting into mice (which has its own issues) and it mentioned connecting to micro fluidic chambers in the future for full ex vivo, but they don’t have a functioning model for that yet. It’s a very interesting and promising area of research but with practical lab work nowadays it’s just not feasible. I hope they’re able to get a full ex vivo model working soon though, that would be really exciting!
So glad someone already said it. I’m a neuroscience PhD student who works with brain organoids and the article is absolutely ridiculous.
I don’t think people here mind paying for stuff I think it’s more that enshittification and subscription based business models should not be supported.
If you really want to see huge squirrels check out a US college campus. They’re so fat!
Ok, I don’t think kindness is a bad thing but I do think the type of hero who’s all vanilla and too good to be true feels fake. I can’t relate to someone who always makes the right choice without fail and who has near unlimited power. I also think it makes for a more boring story. I like stories where the heroes aren’t perfect and need to learn to be better.
Ok, I get this argument and you’re correct about the events of the film but I think when most people say we’re living in Idiocracy they’re talking about before the events of the film and how it got that way. For example, Brawndo had to start being used for crops at some point and it was almost certainly a greedy corporate exec that decided to start advertising it that way.
