Short version is, if you can try it at a convention, I recommend that. Also only buy if you like facilitating games.
It's the best social deduction game I have played by a big margin.
The grimoir (book shaped organizer) does a lot to facilitate very complex sets of characters/powers that would only be possible on a computer otherwise.

@gpage it definitely requires the right group. I think this group wants to explore FitL as well as other COIN games further. I consider myself lucky.

@gpage it's definitely a subject we are all more familiar with/interested in, and it was for a friend's birthday. He requested the medium scenario. I was a bit hesitant but am glad we did that instead of the short one. I think the short one would feel like we would end without really feeling like we were playing.

@gpage that was our first play (first COIN game actually) we played the medium scenario and really enjoyed it. It took quite a bit to internalize the rules, but we had it by the end. We are all excited to play again.

@PhilGross we actually played a friend's copy of the imported version named Rapido. I'm notsure about the current availability of the US print run.

@Kevmeeple it goes into the short list of games that make me hungry when discussing playing it. There is a serious threat of getting distracted and snacking while deciding to play it. Durian and French Toast are notable members of that list as well.
