I'm a PhD, but not an academic. I'm a bureaucratic cog for the state of Michigan, but a darn good one! I get to think about and create messages, practices, strategies for engaging the public on climate change and health.

Off-time: climate-appropriate suburbs, e.g. pollinator/wildlife landscaping and sustainable home business. Also, pix of the doggos, Jack and Hazel.

New WRI Insights article: “A recent analysis shows that only 37% of the harvested area of major #crops are used for direct #food #consumption — that is, crops used for foods that are produced and consumed domestically.”

How to feed more people with less #cropland?

- Prioritize food for people (relax biofuel mandates & targets)
- Reduce #FoodWaste
- Shift high-#meat diets toward plant-based foods

Holiday Reminder: Be a better dog carer and a more savvy hider of gifts than me! This girl just ate 4 of 6 cocoa bombs. Vet says she'll be ok bc no dark chocolate was involved.

I have to say, though, she put some effort into getting these from the usual hiding place!

Greetings! I've just moved to .spore from .social and Project Mushroom. Howdy! 🤠

I'm starting w a podcast recommendation: The latest Left Anchor https://www.leftanchor.com/ w @ryanlcooper and @ddayen. In addition to the helpful discussion about SBF fraud, they discuss development of lithium mining at the Salton Sea. Typically an extremely toxic process, there are 3 companies looking at how to do it better....and also discuss in detail how it can benefit this v poor community. 👍 It's good!
