Could Discuss.online become the go-to USA instance? - Discuss Online

Hello everyone, Following the recent discussions on [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/yepowertrippinbastards] and [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://lemmy.world/c/lemmyworld] , it seems that people realize that Lemmy.world is subject to European laws, and not the US ones. This is another event where US citizens seem to be looking for an instance that would adhere to their “legal culture”, the previous one being the US elections, where the topic was discussed everywhere, before getting channeled into [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://lemmy.world/c/politicaldiscussion] > I don’t know anything about Dutch or Finnish laws, but I’ve seen many recent articles about people arrested in Germany for their social media posts that were considered hateful or violent (which is frankly a culture shock to me as an American), so I can see why some of the posts on Lemmy in the past week would be concerning. https://lemmy.world/comment/13870047 [https://lemmy.world/comment/13870047] So, the question is: could Discuss.online become that instance? And host US-focused communities like “AskUSA”, “USPolitics”, “USFinance”, this kind of things? I am mostly asking because there’s no secret that the DO admins aren’t the biggest Lemmy fans, so would you guys be okay if your instance would get promoted, potentially causing an influx of users and communities, some requiring moderation?

Thank you !

Real Madrid’s priority at right-back is Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is allowed to sign a pre-contract from January 1. Liverpool have been unable to renew his contract, which has generated pessimism at Anfield and optimism at the Santiago Bernabeu, although everything is still open.

Aussie.zone is, and a few other instances regularly have issues. The issues have been here for months, are not going to be fixed any time soon as the latest Lemmy version still has issues like the pictures one: github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/5196

Some additional details:

As far as hosting it on a different instance, this is just kinda a playful experiment. If it goes well anyone can copy the list and put it a version of it on their server.

If we were to open an index community on let’s say lemmy.zip, known for their transparency and reactive management (lemmy.world/post/22643868), would you consider closing [email protected] and redirect to the new lemmy.zip community?

When two similar communities coexist, the LW version always dominates due to LW size, so the non-LW version is always struggling, and people don’t know where to post.
