It turns out that yesterday was the 53rd anniversary of the first broadcast of The Clangers — a gentle little show about a planet populated by knitted rodents, a Meccano chicken, and soup wells managed by a sometimes irascible dragon. The speech of the little knitted fellas sounded to us humans like Swanee Whistles, but you could tell it was speech. Now my lovely publisher @Unbound has introduced a book with some of the scripts so we can know what they were saying (some quite NSFW).
