I’m a casual enthusiast with nothing of significance to add to the discussion on space.

I’ve been in the market for a telescope for years and last flew a model rocket with an A motor sometime around 2012.

Anyone out there have thoughts on a basic astrophotography setup?

I was leaning towards a dobsonian telescope, and have now learned from a YouTube video that those aren’t a good idea?

I already have a decent enough dslr camera that could be used.

I’ve got reasonably dark skies in central Florida, and would be nice to see what’s going on beyond this planet.

Thanks in advance!

NASA astronaut Eileen Collins was born #OTD in 1956. She was the first woman to pilot the space shuttle (1995) and the first woman to command a shuttle mission (1999).
@PhotonEmpress serious thanks for setting this up. It’s nice to marvel at the genius of others and fantasize about a life that never was free of the nonsense associated with other social platforms.
