Is there a right way to tell a woman she intimidates you sexually?
An acquaintance of yours asks why you act so strangely around her. She seems a little hurt, and is worried you hate her or something. And the truth of the matter is that you have… well it wouldn’t be right to call it a crush, but you find her very beautiful and have been worried about making a fool of yourself. And it isn’t your intention to harass her or pursue her in any way, you’re not even looking for a relationship or anything right now, you’re just nervous around her for basically no reason, and she’s noticed and she wants to know if she’s done something to offend you. What on earth is the correct thing to say?
List of sources stating that Narcissus was was asexual and was not an abuser [ace rights!]
Hello, I recently got in an argument with one of the mods of this community about whether Narcissus was asexual, and I was invited by the other mod to come here to “discuss my lack of understanding.” So that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Here are some sources directly from Google that Narcissus of Greek mythology was asexual: 1. Narcissus wasn’t an abuser, he was queer | by Vi- Grail https://medium.com/@viridiangrail/narcissus-wasnt-an-abuser-he-was-queer-15a74e456838 [https://medium.com/@viridiangrail/narcissus-wasnt-an-abuser-he-was-queer-15a74e456838] > Narcissus does not owe his allosexual suitors a polite rejection. From the content of his life, we see that he was constantly sexually harassed, and indeed sometimes violently so. He was 16, for Dionysus’ sake! He was just a kid! Some boys haven’t even hit puberty yet at that age. 2. Narcissus a Victim? : r/GreekMythology https://www.reddit.com/r/GreekMythology/comments/1d0ypc7/narcissus_a_victim/ [https://www.reddit.com/r/GreekMythology/comments/1d0ypc7/narcissus_a_victim/] > The myth, like the myths of Iphis (not the Ianthe one), Arsinoë, Hippolytus to some extent, feature the theme of a young person being punished for rejecting courtship. This is a relic of an old over 2000 year culture. > I Agree: he was cursed after he told somebody, was harassing him, to kill themselve and they listened. Not his fault 3. Narcissism-induced asexuality by The Asexual Visibility and Education Network > I believe this may be the reason for my lack of interest in sex. I am on the autism spectrum. There is a strong correlation between autism and asexuality, and autists usually have some strong narcissistic tendencies. People like me who have autism tend to be cerebral narcissists to a certain degree, and this means we lack a desire for sex because we are too absorbed in the complexity of our own minds to care. 4. Asexuality, Grey Sexuality, and Narcissism by Vaknin Talks > Asexuality is a legitimate, healthy sexual orientation. There’s nothing wrong with it. > Now, it’s ridiculous to say that there are no asexual narcissists. Yes, believe it or not, I’ve received numerous comments and messages on my Instagram post saying that there’s no such thing as a narcissist who is asexual. Those last two are a bit less relevant so I’d better start skipping forward in the results 8. Narcissus and the drawbacks of being a hot teenage boy by The University of Melbourne > This equation turns the reader’s gaze inward and prevents us from seeing the interesting monsters in our peripheral vision, in this case the toxic norms of male sexuality. > Ovid might call this arrogance, but it sounds more like typical self-isolating teenage angst – Narcissus, in case we forget, is just sixteen years old in the story and clearly not particularly well socialised. Well that was a bit disappointing, I was really expecting to find a few more sources for my argument. I went to google, saw the first two results, and committed to the bit before I knew for sure it would pay off. Sad. But in any case, I hope it’s plain to see from these sources that Narcissus is the victim in his own story, that he didn’t abuse anyone, that he was a teenage boy who shouldn’t have been pressured into sex by the people around him, that the Greeks were incredible aphobic for equating asexuality with abuse, that one of the mods of this community is incredibly aphobic for equating asexuality with abuse, and that everyone making a big deal out of a teenager not wanting to have sex is kind of a pedophile.
