I am struggling to determine who are more blinkered, fanatical, and blood-thirsty: fans/apologists of Hamas or supporters of Israel's scorched earth tactics in Gaza. Both groups are bloody insane and much more alike than they (want to) realize.
On the other hand, a dog year has nothing on a Pogue year. Shane could have died at fifty, and it would still be amazing: how the hell did he survive that long on his toothless diet of Whiskey and Heroin?!

I mean, yeah, on one hand, the universe is a miserable fucker for letting Shane MacGowan die at 65 while Kissinger got to live till he was 100. Yet another proof that there is no (benevolent) god.

Terrible loss of one of the best songwriters to ever grace this earth. (That's not to say, of course, that MacGowan was without faults; nah, he was a fool in many ways. Human. But/And always fascinating.)

Spielberg is sorry for having made Jaws because it caused a shark-panic.

Kudos. I wonder if the Wachowskis are sorry for Matrix, a so-so movie which works as an excuse for douche bags to spout bad philosophy

Exact real-time location of Elon Musk:

Laughingstock on the corner of Hypocrisy and Megalomania

I had the honour of interviewing Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson about their beautiful and brilliant Pinocchio last night. It's on Netflix. If you get the chance to see it on the big screen, you must.

The German word "doch" can mean
- but
- yet
- even so
- still
- nevertheless
- on the contrary
- after all

It's also a full answer to ANY negative statement:

Ist es nicht! (It's not!) - Doch! (Yes, it is!)
Das mache ich nicht! (I won't do that!) - Doch! (Oh yes, you will!)
Das stimmt nicht! (That's not true!) - Doch! (You bet it is!)

So many meanings - not possible, you say? Oh, doch!

Enjoy our language!
