@oooh_scary @foxwayne 1450/mo is 17,400 a year, which a person cannot survive on in the US and is usually less than an emergency medical bill. Domestic violence is insanely widespread here and LGBTQ rights are not guaranteed, the country is currently moving down the path towards genocide of trans people. Do the thousands of addicts dying on the streets in my city have it easy? Or do they just deserve it?
@oooh_scary @foxwayne you seem to be saying people don't get murdered by the US government and everyone is lucky to be here while accusing others of being privileged, which isn't too uncommon of a viewpoint but usually comes from a place of patriotism or ignorance
@oooh_scary @foxwayne "among western developed nations"... The poor in the USA are also miserable and there's a lot to say about "privilege" if you can't recognize that millions of people living on the edge of destitution in the richest country in the world aren't lucky. Are the two million prisoners in the US privileged? Maybe class society causes suffering everywhere on the planet and it is insufferable to dismiss the poor in one country because others elsewhere have it worse
@oooh_scary @foxwayne the poor in the US are much worse off than the poor in other developed "western" nations, one isn't "privileged" because they were born here LMAO
@tofugolem @TheUSASingers the Democrats are just the friendlier face of our one party capitalist dictatorship. They'll say pretty words about defending your human rights while dragging their feet for years on issues such as abortion, but they'll all jump at the chance to crush a strike.
@Austin_JBGC cops exist to uphold the current class structure and are an essential feature of the state. With a system as racist, cruel, and oppressive as capitalism it's no wonder our cops are conditioned to behave the way they do
@peaceful the police exist to enforce class structure and will exist as long as one economic class dominates another and will continue to receive more and more funding as the divide between the classes grows with raising inequality. This is an essential part of the state that preserves the dominance of the current ruling class. The goal of the socialist project is the overturning of the current class structure of capitalist dominance, which has never been done through appeasement
@TheUSASingers we already got the pics of him smoking crack in the rehab depravation pod, how are we supposed to care about emails
@foxwayne God you've given me Andy Milonakis acid flashbacks, I still have the memory of finding out he was 30
@adam @tim the railway labor act allows the US government to intervene in rail labor disputes because previous rail strikes demonstrated how powerful organized labor in key economic sectors can be. The president was happy to step in and have his administration end the negotiations and potential of a strike because the US government has been dedicated to crushing labor for centuries
