Agriculture Research Development Program (ARDP) in the College of Engineering, Science, Technology and Agriculture (CESTA) at Central State University is seeking postdoctoral scientist to fulfill obligations for a new USDA research grant performing field and lab research experiments. The position is a 12-month appointment, with renewal each year up to three years based on the performance/progress and funding situation. The salary is competitive with full benefits as a full-time employee. The candidate should have experience with honeybee behavioral genetics and genomics. Postdoctoral scientist is expected to design and perform procedures/techniques for the extraction of DNA/RNA using standard molecular methods for sequencing analysis, physiological assay, behavioral experiments, and advanced knowledge in RNA-seq, GWAS, and epigenomic sequencing technologies. Scientists are willing to learn new technologies and expected to supervise and mentor student researchers (under-represented minority) and assist with routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Duties and Responsibilities:Ā· Perform complex field and laboratory experiments for queen rearing, instrumental inseminations, behavioral experiments, physiological experiments, prepare samples for sequencing.Ā· Follow QA/QC protocols and design SOPs that comply with Standard MethodsĀ· Use LIMS for documentation of QA/QC/Standards/Research/Other samples.Ā· Direct routine molecular biology proceduresĀ· Direct preparation of equipment, samples, reagents, media, and solutions for use in the laboratoryĀ· Prepare and submit all necessary reports and related research manuscripts to research faculty/PIĀ· Ensure maintenance of chemical inventory and laboratory equipmentĀ· Data entry, managements, and summarizationĀ· Perform bioinformatic analysis using programming skills in computational biology.Ā· Assist researchers with statistically valid data analysis and interpretation.Ā· Assistance with preparing research findings for presentations and publications.Ā· Meet with research faculty/PI weekly, to discuss work projects and outputs and assign priorities.Ā· Mentor and work with undergraduate students for researchĀ· Facilitate operation of the lab and assist the faculty/students.Ā· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Summary:The candidate should be knowledgeable in beekeeping, communicating with other partners. The desired outcome will be to maintain honeybee colonies for bee lab research at Central State University, which is a 1890 Land-Grant Institution in Wilberforce, Oh.Duties include perform field and lab research on 1) conduct beekeeping for all honeybee colonies for university and lab research activities, 2) perform honeybee sample collections, queen insemination, queen rearing, queen banking, mating nucs, and related work, and 3) assist on our genetic research to for honeybee selection and improving honeybee health, 3) provide assistants on the workshops of queen honeybee biology.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:⢠Maintain the apiaries of our research lab, including feeding, disease control, and treatments,⢠Prepare hive boxes and related hive supply for summer field operations,⢠Assist researchers and Pl to prepare/perform field experiments, sample collections, and data collections related to honeybee research,⢠Assist researchers on transportation to different field sites.⢠Assist on purchasing, receiving, and documentation of the bee lab operations,⢠Facilitate operation of the lab and assist the faculty/student research
