Before Twitter was Birdchan, the biggest advantage it had was social convenience - just being able to run into small artists & folks from all walks of life and talk on the same level. Which is probably why I enjoyed being there more than any other platform & until I find the right instance to be in, Mastodon is probably going to remain less than adequate. 😩
Boy being an artist with a tech background is socially one of the hardest places to be right now. I want art to be raw and free & artists to work without having their stuff stolen - but having to shut out the entire tech community is the only way to do so.
And I find artist ONLY spaces easily cut out most of the kinds of conversations I'm looking for. Especially as someone who enjoys unsolicited crit and prefers to expand the conversation to non artist folks since they have a diff perspective
@shizamura probably the AI thing at least but it does make the set up feel worse than twitter since I can't stumble on folks in blocked instances.
