🐶🇨🇦🦫🇬🇧 I believe everyone just needs to chill and be less greedy. Think how much better the world would be if we ALL could do a little bit more of that! Btw that's our beautiful Lola's nose.
@amaditalks I think the US military should definitely be pared down, but the US navy should remain largely intact, though heavily green-ified. The reason is piracy. Before the existence of the modern US navy, throughout all human history, piracy made the ocean a dangerous place. Is it the US’s responsibility? No, but by coincidence, the US is performing a service to the world for the greater good.
If the 1% have all the money and power, then that means the rest of us are 99%. Surely there being more of us than them would mean we should be able to get some equality back in the world?

77-year-old #Trump last night was so confused and incoherent at his speaking event at “Pray Vote Stand” (cough… Karen-Con) that he suggested #Obama was his opponent in 2024, also suggested he beat Obama in 2016, and seemed to think we were on the verge of Word War *2*.

I can only imagine the headlines if 80-year-old #Biden had said this. 🤷‍♂️

Amazing that the Texas House had the courage to call out the obvious impeachable offenses of Paxton; amazing, too, that it wasn't a foregone conclusion *until* the votes happened that Texas Senate Republicans were dedicated to the grift that is modern Republican politics—it seemed like they were taking it as seriously as their House colleagues. But, nope. They protect their own; they prefer crime. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2023/09/16/us/ken-paxton-impeachment-texas
Ken Paxton Impeachment Trial Live Updates: Texas Senators Vote

A two-thirds vote for conviction on any of the 16 articles of impeachment would result in Ken Paxton, the attorney general of Texas, being removed from office. Voting is underway now.

This is really important.

"The most important point of the UAW strike imo is that unions gave benefits & compensation up when the Big 3 were filing for bankruptcy protection on the promise they would be returned, when they were profitable again. They did not keep their promise. Instead, they paid themselves more." - @LALegault

#UAW #strike #QuoteToots

The Big Three automakers taking tens of billions in auto bailouts fully funded by taxpayers—and now refusing to share the resulting record profits with workers—is the epitome of what's wrong with our economy.

Socialism for the wealthy. Rugged individualism for workers. Absurd.

Thinking about US Rep Boebert (God help me). I'm old enough to remember when a Rep groping their date while the date fondles her during a show, then cursing a blue streak when she's kicked out of the theater, would result in the Rep eventually resigning in shame. Then again, we still have no idea who Rep George Santos really is, and a fmr. President who tried to overthrow an election is the likely nominee to run again, so the bar isn't just low, it's buried deep in the Earth's core. #uspolitics

Jann Wenner says Black and female musicians don't "articulate at the level" of white men

Jann Wenner justified the lack of diversity in his new book The Masters by arguing that Black and female artists "just didn’t articulate at the level" of their white male peers.
