Our political system cannot keep up (usually because of most of them being white old dudes) with the ever-increasing pace of technology by corporations. We've seen it with the aboslute shit-show the internet has become, despite its early promise of democratising knowledge and leveling the playing field.
The point that worries me the most is the abrogation. Unless our lawmakers act, the current regulatory capture will let the corps off with almost anything. Genuinely scary.

Fair enough and perfectly valid it is too. The way it was phrased by yourself and Lex made it sound like they'd done something wrong.
Yeah, the "demo" is definitely D&D-centric.
Seems to work for them, though.
So what would you have them do instead? How could their pitch be improved?
You'd have a great point if their demographic is groknards like us who've played Conan, RoleMaster III, CoC, Hero Systems, MERP, GURPS, BoTF, PbtA etc... etc...
But if you've only ever played 5e, that pitch on their site makes a whole lot more sense.
Did you read the intro sample pages?
It is not just "We're not 5e."
@lextenebris @dawngreeter
.. also.
Whilst yes there is a section on "What this is not" on their pitch, there's a whole lot of "What this is" there too.
Can you explain what you mean by "paying dues"?
MCDM has published a number of fairly well-received products over the years. Who are they paying the dues to? Us? You talk like they've come out of nowhere.
As for inspirations, in the interviews, Q&A etc they've mentioned, for example, Midnight Suns for at least some of the mechanics and of course "Fantasy Trope" standards for some of their races.
You are aware too, that this isn't even close to finished, right?
I'm a little confused about your first paragraph. Where do you get that assersion from? Who suggested it's akin to "divine revalation."?
It's just another TTRPG, but they've been able to leverage Matt's "fame" to get people to buy into it.
I don't think it's particularily ground breaking, but I do disagree that he's not ackowleging insperations or paying dues. Could you show me where I'm wrong?
Oh the Tories....

This is harsh but true. 🙂
