Elysia chlorotica, also called the “Eastern Emerald Elysia” is a bright green sacoglossa found along the Atlantic coast of North America that’s earned the title of “solar-powered sea slug” for its ability to produce its own energy with sunlight and the chloroplasts that it sucks off of algae.
This process, which is similar to photosynthesis, is known as kleptoplasty. Very few non-plant organisms are capable of this phenomenon.

Your carbon footprint helps you identify actions you can take to personally fight climate change. It also shifts responsibility away from petrochemical companies. If that seems convenient for Big Oil, it's because the carbon footprint concept was popularized in part by oil giant BP.
Obviously it's fun to make fun of how out of touch and self centered this worldview is, but it's very important to understand survivorship bias and our own biases in general.
