We are one month into the generative AI apocalypse semester and in my class, I've asked first-year students to use Bard or ChatGPT or Claude or Bing to generate citations to help them start their research papers. The vast majority of students have given up, because Google Scholar was far simpler and more reliable; the AI bots gave them nonsense articles and broken links. Wasted their time.
