I was waiting for the subway when a European tourist took her coffee cup and set it on a box, intending to leave it behind. Right before we boarded, I grabbed her cup, handed it back to her wordlessly, and got on the train. My husband, who was traveling with me, was giddy with how angry she was. In that moment, I became the asshole I have always aspired to be.
