Warranty? - Lemmy.World

My wife just bought an Ioniq 5 with 20k miles. It still has 2+ years on the factory warranty and the battery is warrantied until 100k. I didn’t realize that she had purchased an 8 year/100k bumper to bumper warranty for $3,500. That seems crazy expensive and redundant to me. I can still get a refund if I hurry. We have never had an ICE vehicle this would have paid off on. However this is our first EV. Are there any unusual things that might break that I’m not aware of? The sales guy just kept mentioning sensors and electronics, which seemed like a classic scare tactic.

Heated Gear Recommendations?

Heated Gear Recommendations? - Lemmy.World

Tldr: I need a new heated vest/jacket (and accessories). Got any recommendation? My Milwaukee electric hoodie recently died. I liked it for the warmth under my jacket, but I never loved it because it didn’t get that hot. Just kind of warmish. I can always swap batteries. I live in a climate that often drops to sub zero (F) temps, and I’m often outside for multiple hours. I have a nice parka and a puffy jacket. But electric heat feels so great beneath. I want some new heated gear. Primarily a hoodie or vest, but a good jacket, gloves, socks, etc., could be nice too. Ideas?

For those interested. The game is actually based on a book from the 80’s called Maze. It was a contest offering a reward for the first to solve it. It’s only a maze in the same in the same sense Blue Prince is

By random coincidence, my wife has the book. You can definitely see the resemblance.

Found this on game pass (which I keep meaning to cancel, but here we are). Holy. Shit. It’s a cute little cell shaded board style game. Might be fun to toy around with… Maybe just a couple more tries…wait what…? It’s a masterpiece. It’s genius. It’s madness. It’s like Myst shot up the 7th guest and started snorting riddles. Did anyone else stumble into this labyrinth? I’m obsessed.

Strava Alternative? - Lemmy.World

Strava’s enshitification continues. It’s basically useless now without an expensive subscription. I mountain bike. All I want is to track my lap time, segment time, and compare against personal records. I tried MapMyRide today, which pretty much just tracked my lap time. Not ideal. Are there any decent alternatives? Thanks in advance.

Superbox catch? - Lemmy.World

From my perspective, the traditional way to acquire content from torrents and a VPN. Everyone is talking about Superbox, which actually sounds pretty cool. How does it work? What’s the catch? Can I setup another device to use the same apps without buying the box? If it gets shut down can I fire it up through a VPN? I’m guessing they host content from another country and sell the hardware at a big profit. But I’d love to know a little more. There are hosting costs somewhere… Is the profit model just to outrun those costs through hardware sales?

I’ll look into it. I wouldn’t have paid, but my wife answered the door. COD seems like a scam that ended in the 90’s.

Duties fee on shipping?

Duties fee on shipping? - Lemmy.World

I bought some hockey sticks recently. Free shipping over $300. UPS made me pay $50 on delivery for “Duties or taxes are due on this package.” The seller did not list the potential expenses outside of what was paid, and said they have no control over this. Has anyone else run into this (with anything)? I have never paid duties as a direct fee for anything not purchased in an airport. Shipping was Canada to U.S.

This is a sidewalk grip where it ramps up from the street. I noticed that all of them have the same melt pattern. Low traffic area when no one was out. Just curious if anyone knows why

Gaming Mouse - Dead? - Lemmy.World

I have a Naga Hex 2, which I really like. It recently lost sensitivity to horizontal movement. If I move the mouse slowly, the cursor doesn’t move. Moving the mouse fairly quickly, however works fine. Vertically it works as expected as well. I’ve had something similar happen to other mice in the past (different computers, etc.) Is this common? Is the mouse broken? Has this happened to anyone else? I can’t think of the words to bring back an answer in a search engine.
