AI art: art or not? The @christiesdigart auction intensifies the debate. The same #AI defenders offer the same tired arguments. Nearly 3000 critics signed a letter calling it theft. I predicted this in 2019.
I "stole" my own art, trained an AI on repetition until my style vanished. The AI processed abstract images. #Art? I can't say! I asked a computer vision system to judge.
After all, the real question is; will we ever erase the human footprint from machine art?

The question of time is essential in the study of #art. Different materials degrade at different rates, and different ways. Some works went lost because their material was susceptible to time (wax masks, etc), and also depending on the culture, impermanence was an aesthetic quality in ancient Japan.

Ps: I started to make mixed media paintings to bring my #art away from computers and slow my life down. While I still make videos and other digital works on/off, painting is my main interest at the moment.
