Portal Foxes TD - Portal Foxes TD Release - Steam News

Portal Foxes TD releasing Monday.

After I posted that message, I got playtest footage of someone who missed that it was even possible to pull blocks out of crates and just thought the game was really hard, and now I feel like a dick. I think I need to change something in the tutorial to make it VERY clear, that you're supposed to build mazes. You are not supposed to find perfect positions to place the foxes that happen to work without any blocks. #PortalFoxesTD is not a super challenging puzzle game. It's a building game.
One interesting stat I'm seeing from #NextFest is 5 to 10 times as many people wishlisted my game as played the demo. I shouldn't be surprised, since I wishlist games without playing demos myself. I'm also seeing about 4x downloads as plays. Hopefully I'll still be getting demo plays for a week or two after, as people get around to it. it being VR probably affects with these numbers since it's more effort to get in game.
Me watching players try to beat #PortalFoxesTD levels without placing any blocks.
@Shards Much can be a pronoun and chocolate could be an adjective, so I guess technically A/d is valid. Subject verb direct object adverb adjective. I don't like much, but when I do, I like much very chocolate.

Even if you do everything “right”. Even if you’re young and healthy. Even if you “try hard”

It’s not a moral failing. It’s a part of life.

If more people would accept that and work with us, we would all be better off.

@Beldarak Like most solvable problems that persist in the modern world the answer is capitalism. Rich people wanted that automation the rest of us hate, and that is who gets things.
I plan to leave the #PortalFoxesTD demo up indefinitely. There's a demo flag in the build, so it's easy to push demo updates whenever I update the base game. Using all game footage for marketing materials and having a demo longer than some #VR games likely hurts my sales, but I'm hoping it'll help my reviews. I know the graphics aren't great, and so does everyone else before they spend any money. If you're on the fence, play the demo. If you like the demo, then you'll like the game because the demo is just the first 20% of the game. Saves and achievements carry over. if only people who already like the game buy the game, then my reviews should be positive, right?
I haven't gotten much feedback on #PortalFoxesTD from #NextFest. What I have gotten boils down to "it's fun" and "the graphics are bad". Nothing actionable and nobody has mentioned any bugs or technical problems. I submitted a build to Steam for release review. I'll set a hard release date after I get through review, but it will be basically immediately. Final levels are looking good. I just want to do one more editing pass on the story script.
@tracefree Funny, that's how I was first exposed to the idea, reading about how Doom and Wolfenstein worked before they could even rasterize triangles properly. That's raycasting, I know, but you have to get raytracing to come up with that idea. Anyway thanks for sharing, this series looks very interesting, I've been thinking about redoing my game engine's rendering in Vulkan and this might just be exactly what I need.
