Occasional snark, intelligence, questioning alternate reality and decision making in the strange world we find ourselves in..
@Green_Footballs the past is doomed to be repeated forever and ever and ever and ever and always and forever..
@tchambers well, Tom from MySpace, he was always the first friend one had when arriving lol.
@GottaLaff @emptywheel But isn't she the one who consistently pushes that justice will come? Now, she's suddenly saying two tiered justice? Its been that way for 50 years or more, but she only now raises the two tiered flag? Hrmm, not impressed.
@GottaLaff what a joke.and here we are thinking Justice will be served. Look, if we're so deferential to Trump and are not going to even get a mugshot, then how will it be come sentencing time? Are we going to say we'll, we can't send an old man to prison?
@GottaLaff it was the OJ car chase scene
@shoq its a big nothingburger in SE Asia.

A lot of the accounts you follow and interact with on here are not Mastodon accounts!

For example, @theatticdwellers is a PeerTube account, @Iancylkowski is a Pixelfed account, @rstv is an OwnCast account.

There are dozens of different server types on here, not just Mastodon servers. When you talk about this place, it's not enough to call it "Mastodon", because it's more than just that.

That's why people call this place "The Fediverse", because that name covers all server types.

@shoq @brianonbarrington I guess lastly I would posit that it's the roar of the crowds that keeps power users there. Here they can't say they are followed by hundreds of thousands etc. Here they don't get to have hundreds of replies to their tweets. There they get it all. They go out every day and think to themselves how powerful they are because every tweet results in 500 replies. It's that sense that wakes them up every day to wash rinse and repeat. Imagine before Twitter where they were? Stuck on Huffpo commenting and building badges, and before that, Usenet, and IRC, and before that, nothing. Now they are something, but you take all that away and they feel lost. That's why they won't leave it. Eventually they'll have to, but they'll sure raise a stink about it before they do. Most however will stay until the bitter end, when it's nothing more than a 4chan site..
@shoq @brianonbarrington Shoq, that humanity you talk about is mostly filled with people addicted to the algorithms and or building a power base from which to feed an outrage beast. Eventually when you come here you deal with real people who truly care about what they post and who responds to it.
@brianonbarrington @shoq Exactly 💯 a lot of power accounts rarely if ever engage with their base. They fire off a tweet and never check back, they don't really care about their readers, all they do is fan the outrage and build more followers. It's a sick thing, and most should just get out of that following frenzy thing. These power accounts are just there for themselves to stroke their own inflated egos. They rarely talk to anyone that's followed them, and when they do you're supposed to feel celebratory about it.
