The bill to "End New York funding of Israeli settler violence Act" would establish a civil penalty for nonprofits that help fund settlements. The pro-Israel backlash has predictably described it as antisemitic.
Why does Israel keep demolishing Palestinian homes when it amounts to collective punishment of innocent civilians and has been shown to be an ineffective deterrent? It's a matter of policy.

"What is particularly cruel, rights groups say, is that in almost all cases of punitive home demolitions, the alleged Palestinian attacker has already been killed or imprisoned by Israel. Demolishing their home, or their family’s home, is just an added layer of punishment."
Striking fear and terror in the population is a form of control and Israel does not care about the niceties of human rights and international condemnation.
The Palestinian Children and Families Act is basic, common-sense policy that would ensure not one cent of U.S. taxpayer funds are being used to pay for the military detention of Palestinian children, the demolition of Palestinian homes, or the expansion of Israeli settlements and annexation of Palestinian land.
It’s time for every single progressive in Congress to take a stand for Palestinian rights.

In reality, Israel compounds systems of oppression for queer Palestinians by attempting to entrap them as informants under occupation, and if they flee to supposed gay paradise cities like Tel Aviv for asylum, they are denied work permits and healthcare, a violation of international law (source: +972 Mag).
Queer and trans Palestinian people have asked their partners worldwide to refuse complicity with their oppressors: #StopPinkwashing! And queer solidarity with Palestine is rising in response: from Sam Smith dropping their Israel show last month (shoutouts to @AdalahJusticeProject), to a Chicago anti-pinkwashing campaign last year (@USPCN), to a recent win at Lisbon Pride. Across the globe, queer individuals and groups have #NoPrideInApartheid!
As Jasbir Puar and Maya Mikdash explained, pinkwashing is the attempt to gloss over Israel’s ongoing settler colonialism in Palestine by redirecting attention to Israel’s supposedly stellar gay rights record, in comparison with supposedly dismal LGBTQIA+ Palestinian experiences. #NoPrideInApartheid
