Mukul Kesavan: “Democratic societies are based on the presumption that their residents are citizens...With a National Register of Citizens, the burden of proof is abruptly shifted...An all-India NRC would turn citizens into supplicants.” https://www.telegraphindia.com/opinion/an-all-india-nrc-would-turn-citizens-into-supplicants/cid/1721575
An all-India NRC would turn citizens into supplicants

A national apparatus dedicated to snouting up false citizens but only from a single religious community: this will be India’s gift to modern governance

From the Tales of Rumi

During the rest of the trip, the second disciple was unsettled and frowning. He said, “Why did you touch that woman? She could have seduced you!

Men and women cannot come into contact like that"! He went on and on.

The first disciple responded calmly, “My brother, I carried the woman, carried across the stream, and that is where I left her.

It is you who has been carrying her ever since.”

From the Tales of Rumi

Two disciples of a Sufi Order were traveling from one town to another.

They came to a stream, whose waters had risen due to heavy rainfall. They noticed a young, beautiful woman standing there all alone, in need of help.

One of the disciples immediately went to her side. He picked the woman up and carried her in his arms across the stream. Then he dropped her there, said good-bye, and the two disciples went their way.

A farmer once visited his friend in the city. They walked together in the garden in the evening.

The farmer said," I hear the sounds of squirrels".

The friend replied, " You hear squirrels, in this noise of cars, people? Impossible."

The farmer said, "Is it really"?

He took a coin and tossed it on the ground. It made several people turn their heads back.

We hear what we want to hear, what our ears are tuned to.

Our thoughts keep going to, what we are tuned to (desires) in our hearts.

जब नाश मनुज पे छाता है,
पहले विवेक मर जाता है!

Jab naash manuj pe chaata hain,
Pehle vivek mar jaataa hai!

When the destruction of man is inevitable,
It is the conscience (wisdom/ rationality) of man which dies first.

From Rashmirathi- Part 3

Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh "Dinkar" : 1908 - 1974

Vivek, Vikas sab mar gaye hain.

Naash to din din aur pal pal dekh hi rahey hain.

Incunabula's Axiom:

If:
W = T(v) + T(a) + T(t)
Writing is thought made visible, audible or touchable.

and:
B = C{W}
Books are simply containers for writing.

then:
B = C{T(v+a+t)}

BOOKS ARE THOUGHT CONTAINERS.
