If I was not using my PC for gaming also, I would probably say fuck then and be on Linux too. But gaming on Linux is cancer.
Yeah, and then there are many enterprises that still use XP (edge case, but it may be well hundreds of thousands still) or Win 7 (majority). It is not all smooth sailing in enterprise level either, many companies are upgrade averse, and if the stuff works, then why upgrade it.
From business standpoint, it simply bleeds you potential profits. If tens of percents skimp on two of your OS iterations in a row and keep windows 10 (which most of were “free” upgrades from Win 7 to begin with) then you are losing lot of revenue in a long run. I possibly see myself using Win 10 well into 2026/2027 when my PC is due for complete replacement.
Will Microsoft drop the TPM requirement for Win 11 once Win 12 rolls around?

Or maybe they will launch Win 12 with optional TPM support. Imho making the
OS(es) TPM only cannot be good for their business, many people are still on Win
10 with no intention to switch, since their motheboard does not support TPM and
do not want to upgrade PC / waste PCI-E slot on TPM extension.

::: spoiler spoiler So, if I decide to go and beat Ganon early to unlock the
completion tracker, the game resets back before the fight after credits roll. So
does that mean I can do the the rest of the main story also (phenomena and so
on), or do I get locked out? :::

AI tech will take our sense of privacy, it seems inevetable. - Lemmy.World
With the proliferation of AI powered deepfakes at galactic speeds, there will be
nobody (especially women) that will have shred of privacy left in few years. It
does not matter if it is fake photo or not, nobody should be able to see “you”
naked unless you allow it. But with rise of tools that are able to run on
consumer level hardware, that seems like really losing battle. Since how can we
police what a person can run or cannot run on his personal computer? That is
another can of worms better not opened, since the idea of some agency being able
to monitor what you do on your PC is another dystopia. Soon, you can never be
too sure if your neighbor or coworker did not deepfaked you and now every time
he looks at you he sees you as sexual object. That is highly uncomfortable
though for sure. Since we cannot possibly stop it, what is the best option
moving forward? Normalizing it? Marginalizing it, since it is fake after all?
Ignoring it? No option seems very good either. This goes way beyond current
framework of “revenge porn”, since when it comes to revenge porn, the case is
simple - unlawful distribution without consent. But what about unlawful
generation for personal use without consent? I cannot think of legal grounds
that could make this criminal offense, since soon we would have to ban even
drawing lewd doodles with pencil at home.
