Abolition theorist, community organizer, expert on prison censorship, and formerly incarcerated trans woman
There is a lot of controversy over whether people who have done harm have the right to publish or make cultural contributions. I am interested in forming an #abolitionist politics that makes our position clear. For example, if someone has been convicted of rape, child molestation or even murder should they be published? Do they have a right to community? Should we be policing each other like that? Do we do background checks on everyone to make sure we are not supporting certain people?
#formerlyIncarcerated and STILL fighting against #censorship in prisons. I'm working on some projects. One of which is organized by Mariame Kaba I am supporting the work in various ways. I'm very excited about how this work with shake out.
Hmmm. Been working all day organizing. I have some plans that I am working toward. Doing a lot of work fighting prison censorship.
I'd like to share that I am a formerly incarcerated trans abolition theorist, community organizer, expert on censorship, and social justice writer. Anyone care?
I am acting as a consultant for an exhibition on prison censorship held September-October in NYC. This is my first exhibition. I have done panels, workshops, radio/podcasts, and published in magazines and books. This is my first exhibition and I'm excited about it.
