It took some time, but when I realized I no longer have any love to give, I started to feel sorry for the people who chose to stay on the mostly-empty seats of my world.

They deserve someone who laughs genuinely at their funny jokes. Someone who dedicates time and effort in the same way that they choose to come over and see me when they know I feel down, no matter how busy they may be. I rarely asked, and admittedly, I became a little too self-centered and insensitive. All I saw was the rain and not the fact that they chose to get soaked sitting beside me when it's all sunny in their world.

That's why when I realized I no longer have any love to give others, I started loving myself. I did all the things I always wanted to do and brought me peace. I focused on trying to be a better version of myself, and made me feel complete. For the most part, I did it for me. I know I owed myself my own clear skies. But I also did it for those who stayed with me, simply because I know they deserve me at my best. Because they deserve the same love they showered me with, and it's something my heart will always remember.
