@zigg I need to migrate my domain off of Google this month. It was a mistake to put it there in the first place. I’d really rather not have to go back to hosting my own again though.

@queerhackerwitch I'm in a similar boat. I've been spending part of the weekend looking at #ProtonMail only to find it's missing off-domain forwarding, which is unfortunately a blocker for me. cf. https://cybre.space/@zigg/99984297346474626

Some days I think we should just let email burn, but it's such a lingua franca for the Internet.

Not being able to forward mail off somewhere else for a given address is blocking me from using #ProtonMail to host my domain mail. If you think this might be a thing you want, maybe help me out and express that? https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/15353520-forwarding-mail-from-protonmail

@zigg I’d say let it burn if we had a suitable replacement in progress. I don’t receive very much personal e-mail though, most of it is online shopping receipts, ebilling notifications, and the like.
@zigg Did you ever find a solution that worked for you? I'm ready to pull the trigger on a replacement for my Google hosted e-mail and I'm finding that neither ProtonMail or Tutanota really meet my needs since I want something that I can access over IMAP that also allows a generous number of aliases or a catch all e-mail since I've got a bunch of them set up for services that don't support + addresses in e-mail.
@queerhackerwitch Unfortunately, no, I haven’t. 😞
@zigg This is a really big problem. Almost as big as "The government has most of my DNA because they have all of yours" when people submit their DNA to ancestry sites.
@zigg And did you know that Google proactively scans your email for stuff to report you to the government for? I'm only directly aware of their scanning for child pornography, but they have demonstrated both the capability and willingness to report people based on what's in their email.
