Hey guys today is #yomhashoah , memorial day for the Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
This is personally very important to me as a descendant of survivors, so I will do my part to make sure the world never forgets.
@malkosh
Important. What do you think we should be doing to advance this goal?
@derpayatz
Listen to firsthand accounts while survivors are still around. It's been over 70 years, and we don't have much time left before it's no longer in living memory. (1/x)
@derpayatz
Study the history. Support studying this history. Make sure people understand as thoroughly as possible the circumstances that allowed the Holocaust to happen. (2/x)
@derpayatz
Stay vigilant. Antisemitism and bigotry still exist with a growing presence. The Holocaust and Nazis are trigger words that people cringe away from, but that doesn't mean they're gone. (3/x)
@derpayatz
Remember that this happened. Don't let people minimize it or deny it. Remember that we have always fought to survive our oppressors (4/5)
@derpayatz
Let the knowledge of our struggle fuel your drive to help other marginalized groups in their movements for recognition and equal rights. Never be silent. Silence is compliance. (5/5)

@malkosh
I'll add a couple, so we have 7

6. Remember that the Holocaust was not a singular event, but a part of a history of struggle and atrocity that is thousands of years old and not over yet.

7. Defend the memory of the Holocaust against abuse and misappropriation by the same forces that perpetrated it, i.e nationalism, bigotry, and greed
