I think I am off for a while. The discussions that happened here recently really exhausted me and did not lead to any fruitful output imho.

In the past it was always possible to accept different opinions here on the !fediverse but the communication style seems to have changed to a form that I only know from propriatary social networks.

Meaning just boosting out own opinions instead of real interaction. This is a bit sad and maybe it's just my temporary personal experience and I hope that we will find better and more respectful forms of discussions again.
I think a lot of people notice changes. But if everyone leaves who doesn't like it, it probably pushes those changes forward. I don't want to say you shouldn't. But I miss those people who are not around anymore a lot.
@einebiene change in general is not bad. But being mistreated, insulted and confronted with Nazi comparsions is as worse as any other place on the internet. Also people shouting out their #eigene-meinung over and over again without noticing that it might annoy others if they just shout and do not listen, is somewhat unsatisfying.
:-( ohoh. I think I didn't see a lot lately because of the issues as quitter.is. That's not nice, I can understand that.
@marcus Sorry to hear! For my part I'm trying to keep my subscriptions to people I enjoy subscribing to and not looking too much at the whole known network feed. If people are actively looking up others to harass, I think moderation is a good tool.

Unfortunately the larger the network gets, the larger the pile of noticable crap gets.
@mmn on our instance we do moderation and it was necessary a few time. It's more about how it feels to be on the !fediverse. In the past it felt like a community of people who agreed to treat each other fair and well. Listen probalby in discussions and not being harsh in argumentation. This seems to be gone lately and the !fediverse has just become another 'tool'.

Besides that Mastodon brought the people which I call viel-tweeter. Most of them have been on twitter lately and they post up to 100 'toots' a day. I never understood what this is good for as it fastens the whole process of the network a lot and does not allow real interaction and to me is just a form of self-presentation. But that's the new reality we face right now.
@marcus Easy solution (for me at least): I don't bother with accounts I can't keep up with ;)
@mmn yes, and this is what I am going to do soon as well. I will clean up my timeline somewhen soon and see if it gets better. I also blocked some of the ugliest trolls in order to not being harassed.
@marcus @mmn I've encountered excessive posters in the past. I generally unfollow or mute them quite quickly.
