I think it would be interesting to see how and what makes you guys want to make the great art you make, let me know!
@DearMsDear Doodle, draw shapes and make patterns, just get the pencil or pen or stylus moving.
Or scribble a couple pages or six of just a squiggle, and then try to make something from it. :)
@DearMsDear i tend to get more fired up when my friends are also drawing, especially if we're on call together and we can send our wips to each other. seeing them be passionate makes me feel more inspired.
i think when you're in an artblock, it's important to draw SOMETHING, even quick shitty one minute doodles, even if they're not to your usual standards of good enough. (that and having art friends that can bully you into doodling with them is very helpful)
@DearMsDear Make bad art! Don't be afraid to mess up or try something new. Every single artist has make something that they are not 100% pleased with and that's totally fine!
I tend to shut down when I can't think of what to paint, so sometimes I'll just pick something even if it doesn't feel inspired. The physical act (even if it feels mechanical) can sometimes get me back into the swing
@DearMsDear have something else to do that is urgent. :P
Jokes aside I usually use music to get my brain going.
@DearMsDear I think about the characters that I've been writing about since high school and think about their lives, which only exist through me, and I just want to bring them life in some small tangible way.
I also channel my problems into fiction, which is therapeutic.
The other source is seeing cool stuff and wanting to make cool stuff.
