When I first joined mastodon I was getting a lot of engagements and having cool conversations with people. Now it's like I might as well be talking to myself on twitter
@littlesaint there is always the insanity that is me
@Ironraptor I like the insanity that is you. What is insanity anyway?
@littlesaint I am still confused though between local time line and federated time line. I assume local is stuff happening in this instance and the federated one is happening with connected instances?
@Ironraptor I thought local was this instance and federated is just like everything that isn't private
@littlesaint this confusing but I am willing to put up with mild discomfort of not knowing shit over the garbage fire that is the burd site
@littlesaint @Ironraptor yah, that's pretty close! Federated is basically every post this instance fetches, for any reason – if it appears on the home timeline of someone on .social (and I think even if they boosted or faved it on someone else's timeline) .social has to fetch it, so it gets added to the federated stream. As you can imagine, 100,000+ members see a lot of stuff between them!
