friendly reminder to wrap your heavily political posts inside CW tags.

some people here (including me) abandoned birdsite for the purpose of avoiding the worsening Political Discourse there for the sake of their own mental wellbeing.

seeing all of it again around on mastodon doesn't help them at all, and pretty much the reason social media slowly fatigues me

@resir014 I agree. Not that I’m planning to use them to post political stuff, but what are CW tags?
@logicalerror Press the button marked (1) and write the content warning in (2). The original tweet will be hidden behind the content warning

@resir014 This... is discombobulating to me. What exactly is meant by "heavily political"?

I understand putting a content warning around potentially disturbing or disruptive identity or social politic stuff, but as I understood it Mastodon Social's t & c's and ethos are calibrated to stop behaviour in discourse becoming abusive/hostile, not to work on the assumption that ALL political speech or bias is innately violent.

To clarify, I totally understand any sort of content fatigue...

@resir014 ...I've shifted completely away from the federated timeline because my capacity for strangers talking is really, really low.

@Nixsight I admittedly defined "heavily" a bit loosely here, I honestly stopped bothering about birdsite after many people from within my mutuals started posting the usual crap we see, y'know the really low-level discourse. It didn't even help that the recent political shake-ups ramped everything up to sixth gear.

Anything remotely resembling the shit I see on birdsite I can already consider to be some Heavy Political Stuff, but do make your own judgement.

@phildini is this a rule, or a courtesy?

I tend to do that out of courtesy, but if it's a requirement, I would like to know.

@q_aurelius It's a strong suggestion on the Shop, not a rule.

Our rules only dictate graphic sexual or violent content behind a CW, but in general try to be nice and use CWs heavily. (Feel free to re-toot this)

@resir014 Why do you follow people who express political opinions if you find them fatiguing?
@resir014 I haven't yet taken the time to learn how any text formatting works here. Keep trying to use Markdown syntax and it doesn't work.
