@glitzandshadows i'm confused, it's not that much of a problem as much as it's just a new thing to people

i assume you understand it but just in case not, basically instances are quite literally different servers, like slack, discord, etc. people can join them and mastodon has the tools to remote follow others across instances without having to sign up for that specific instance, per se

@ryanlittlefield BUT I also think that as people migrate over things will smooth out. It just feels overwhelming as it stands.

@ryanlittlefield ha! yeah i think the confusion is less about the CONCEPT and more about how it would reasonably function.

like how do you even manage to find instances that have the People You Want To Follow it just seems large and overwhelming at this point.

@glitzandshadows oh, sure. I think there should probably be a 'master' account (which would be social) where people sign up as a hub, and then it breaks off into instances. but then, maybe the privacy of not having that is an okay thing, too. I'm not really sure
