I think every potential parent should be required to go through familial counseling before having children tbh. The reason why I want to have a career in family therapy is because Adults hold on to so much trauma, and even sometimes forget that they're humans who are fallible. Those things can have such an impact on the life of a child tbh
I don't think I want to have children of my own in this world bc of being a queer black parent in a capitalist society is a lot for both parent and child tbh. I've always thought it was weird how adamant I feel about this topic but how adamant I am about not having kids
@TuhRxxk I struggle w this so much; I think this is a large part of why adoption and fostering (in theory, less so in practice because capitalism has kind of ruined what could've been a great thing for the world) are important to me.
@TuhRxxk (this is a basic-ass analysis but it holds up tbh:) most ppl get most of their issues in childhood and spend the next 60-70 yrs getting over them, family therapy is incredibly valuable as a way of actually changing the world
@TuhRxxk thank you so much for wanting that. Growing up in a multi generational house hold I was able to notice that a lot of my family had never dealt with their past and accepted it and saw that all of that was being thrown on me. Thank you so much for looking out for the future!
