Theres no reason for a non-black person to get cornrows, bantu nots, box braids, dookie braids, locs, besides for the sole purpose of appropriation. Black people need those hair styles for protection & maintenance. Not only that its one of the few connections blacks displaced by the diaspora have to our pre-colonial heritage. So when you know there are black kids in school getting detention, blacks getting fired, banned from the military, & you know whites still get praised for it, why would u?
@grammuva this is why I cannot stand when ppl tell black folks getting mad over appropriation that "there's more important things to get mad at." Like I'm sorry you don't have an understanding of how politicized our hair is or how important our hair is to us and our liberation.
