idea - when you block someone, you can type an optional reason, visible only to you in your Blocked Users page. this way, you can easily remember malevolents ('called me a slur' 'climate change denier') and sort them from good but temporarily annoying people ('not interested in their Discourse thread on day when I had bad family news')
LiveJournal paid accounts let you write notes about people's journals which would display if you hovered over their userpic. People would use them if they were banning people from their communities to keep a note of how bad they were (or weren't).
@Support please check out the above request and consider it! thank you.
@fireh9lly sounds like a great idea; would also like temporary, time released blocks for the second part of your suggestion. That kind of stuff is often random people on the public timeline that I'll forget about and forget to unblock later.
@fireh9lly might be worth putting in a feature request on github if you've an account?
@theoutrider Major noob question, but where do I do that? It doesn't go under Issues, does it?
@fireh9lly yeah, it would - just mark it as a feature request in the summary :) there are labels for issues but I don't think these can be assigned on creation
@theoutrider https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/602 I added it! This is my first post on GH, thanks for the advice.
